A commencement service was held at the main auditorium of Dominion University, City of Faith, Ibadan, on 1st November, 2021 to commission the new VC and the governing council towards raising generational leaders.


In attendance were the Chancellor and his wife, Bishop T. V. and Pastor Dolapo Adelakun; members of the board of trustees; the acting VC, Dr Jonah Akoun; the new VC and his wife, Prof. and Dr. Mrs. Olorunnisola; other acting principal officers, Dr. F. Afatakpa, Mr. O. Somefun; the Dean, Prof Abimbola Aworinde; members of staff of the Institution; members of Victory Int’l Church; friends of the University; students from all levels; and gentlemen of the press.


The Chancellor, while giving his charge reinforced the vision of the Institution, emphasising that the vision is a mandate to rescue the education system in Nigeria. He said the University is getting ready for the accreditation team and all efforts are geared towards getting all programmes accredited at once. He charged the new VC to key into the vision and prayed that the new VC will succeed. He further stated that the new VC is to interpret the vision from the spiritual language into academic language, as the school is first spiritual before being academic. The Chancellor, while officially unveiling the new VC, appreciated the acting VC for the past session.


He encouraged the members of staff to cooperate with the new management, adding that the core principle of multitasking must be pursued and dedication to research is non-negotiable. He also admonished students to be open to correction, to listen to instruction, imbibe discipline, and cooperate with the VC, management and staff for the achievement of the vision.


The former acting VC thanked God for the grace and opportunity he received during his tenure and also appreciated the Chancellor for trust to lead the Institution for a year.


The new VC, Prof Olorunnisola, gave thanks to God for the appointment. He also thanked the Chancellor, board of trustees, management, staff, and students. He encouraged all not despise the days of little beginning but to look forward to a great world-class Institution. He noted that experience may not be relevant, but with God’s help and wisdom, all will go well.


The new VC, his wife and the eight-member Governing Council constituted were prayed for by the Chancellor. He further noted that their role is advisory and not executive in nature.

Meet the Members of the Governing Council

The Governing Council of Dominion University was inaugurated on Monday 1st November, 2021 at the University Chapel.

Members of the Council are:

The Chancellor of Dominion University charged members of the council to run with the vision of the institution and ensure that Dominion University becomes a world-class University and admonished them to live up to expectations in respect to their different assignments.
