AFATAKPA, Onoseme Fortune PhD
Brief Description
Afatakpa Fortune obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a member of the American Anthropological Association and member of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice. Dr Afatakpa is also a Fellow of the International Dialogue Centre, Vienna, members of the Sociology of Religion Association (UK) and IFRA Research Fellow (University of Ibadan). He is the Chairman of the Admission Committee of Dominion University and the immediate past Acting Dean of Students Affairs of the DU. Dr Afatakpa is the initiator of the Good Boys Project and Convener of the 21st Century Youth Leadership Summit where the capacities of young people between the ages of 10-17 are built-in leadership development. This is predicated on his long-standing philosophy that it better to prepare a child than to repair an adult.

Some of his publications in international journals include “Religion and Contemporary Security: Exploring the Structural Preventive Approaches of Igbe Orhe” (2018); “Babalola, Joseph Ayodele (1904 – 1959)” in The World's Greatest Religious Leaders: How Religious Figures Helped Shape World History [2 volumes] (2018); Book Review of “City of 201 Gods: Ile -Ife in Time, Space and the imagination; Civilian Joint Task Force and Nigeria’s Counter-Terrorism Operation: A Critique of the Community Based Approach to Insecurity; “The Concept of Iwa and Ebi as a Theoretical Model for Religious Tolerance and Coexistence”. He is the author of the book title "Strategies for Producing High Performing Children".

Dr Afatakpa has presented papers in international conferences held at Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Copenhagen, Temple University, Philadelphia, CODESRIA Multi-Disciplinary Conference, and the University of Ibadan among others.
Dr Afatakpa is married to Abiola Funmilayo and blessed with children.
