Department of Physical Sciences

Introduction

The Department of Physical Sciences is one of the departments in the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences at Dominion University which greeted students on 29th November 2020 when the University kicked-off. Physics with Electronics, a programme within the department has been strategically designed to produce generational leaders and job creators who are highly instrumental to national and global development, with relevance in Oil and Gas, Energy and Power, Electronics, Telecommunication and Satellite industries, Health, Aerospace, Aviation, Meteorology and Defense, among others.

Physical Sciences department is equipped with ultra-modern, standard and functional teaching and research laboratories for the convenience of both students and faculty members. The department is made up of God-fearing, hardworking, well-experienced and student-conscious staff and faculty members. This is responsible for the unity, love and progress in the department.

Our students are consciously taken through series of experiments and practical sessions to expose them to all necessary skills and expertise needed for the understanding, operation, repair and maintenance of various Computer appliances and Electronic equipment used for homes, offices and industries.  They are as well provided with adequate knowledge and skills necessary for further studies in Physics or multi-disciplinary areas involving Physics.

Philosophy, Aims and Objectives of the Programme

  1. To provide students with a broad and balanced foundation of Physics knowledge and practical skills.
  2. To instill in students a sense of enthusiasm for Physics, and appreciation of its applications in different contexts.
  3. To involve the students in an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and studying.
  4. To develop in students the ability to apply their knowledge and skills in Physics to the solution of theoretical and practical problems.
  5. To develop in students through an education in Physics a range of transferable skills of value in Physics and other area
  6. To provide students with knowledge and skills base for further studies in Physics or multi-disciplinary areas involving physic
