Centered around the theme of socio-entrepreneurial empowerment, the 3rd convocation lecture was delivered by Engr. Olufemi Ademola Babalola on Friday, October 24th, at 10:00 AM, at the Dominion University Chapel.
The event, which served as a preliminary highlight to the main convocation ceremony on Saturday the 25th, had in attendance dignitaries, including the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans and lecturers of the faculties, Pastors representing Victory International Church, students of the great citadel of learning as well as the esteemed graduands of the EAGLES set.
The convocation lecture, tagged “Social Entrepreneurship: Creating Solutions for Societal Problems in Nigeria”, covered issues ranging from infrastructural corruption, tribalism, and poverty among others, while stressing the need for the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills. The guest speaker emphasized the need for graduates to identify problems within society and come up with solutions that serve as a means of employment. He encouraged them to pursue an apprenticeship in their chosen fields and reflect on how they can apply their degree to reduce unemployment in their community, in order to build solutions that would serve as frameworks for sustainable development.
The lecture successfully transformed the convocation not just as a celebration of academic achievement, but as a call to action, empowering the next generation of leaders to become proactive solvers of Nigeria’s most entrenched challenges.
