Dominion University Gears up for 3rd Convocation, 130 Students to Graduate

Dominion University has officially announced plans for its 3rd Convocation Ceremony, a landmark event that will celebrate the academic achievements of 130 graduating students and mark the official launch of its newly established Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.

The announcement was made during a well-attended press conference held at the Senate Chambers of the university. The event brought together principal officers of the institution and representatives from major media houses, including NTA, Fresh FM, Splash FM, YES FM and Tribune Nigeria.

Addressing the press, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abel O. Olorunisola highlighted the university’s impressive academic strides, with a particular focus on the expansion of its academic offerings. He proudly confirmed the successful establishment of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, which comprises three key departments: Nursing Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Public Health Sciences. This strategic development, he said, positions Dominion University to address critical national needs in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor also shared details of the graduating class, nicknamed “THE EAGLES.” A total of 130 students will receive their first degrees at the convocation. Of this number:

  • 24earned First Class Honours
  • 53obtained Second Class Upper Division
  • 47received Second Class Lower Division
  • 6graduated with a Third Class

A breakdown of the graduating cohort reveals that 54.6% are from the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences, while 45.4% belong to the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences.

Also speaking at the event, Chancellor Bishop T.V. Adelakun and Registrar Dr. Fortune Afatakpa joined in celebrating the graduates’ accomplishments. Dr. Afatakpa confirmed that the convocation ceremony for the award of first degrees will be held at the University Chapel on Saturday, October 25, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM.

Professor Olorunisola expressed profound appreciation to the Chancellor, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, staff, and the parents and guardians of the graduating students for their steadfast support throughout the academic journey.

As Dominion University celebrates this milestone event, the 3rd Convocation not only honors the success of its graduates but also reflects the institution’s rapid growth and its unwavering commitment to providing programs that are vital to Nigeria’s national development.
