Courtesy Visit to Former Executive Governor of Oyo State (Sen. Abiola Ajimobi)
The meeting commenced at about 3.30pm with the arrival of the guests; members of the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC) of Dominion University, members of the Board of Trustees and other staff members. The Dominion University delegation was duly welcomed by the Governor, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi. Bishop T.V. Adelakun expressed gratitude for the privilege of such a meeting and introduced members of the Dominion University team; Pastor (Mrs) Dolapo Adelakun, wife and member of PIC, the Interim VC, Prof Adedoyin Soyibo, Dr. Osasona; member of the Planning and Implementation Committee, Dr. Joe Akoun, Elder Bode Oyelami; members of the Board of Trustees, Barr. O.I. Aleru and Barr. A.A. Adetoyinbo-liaison officers, and Mr Abiola Oladele, the P.A. to the Chancellor.
The Chancellor of Dominion University, Bishop T.V. Adelakun applauded the successful 8 year tenure of the governor’s administration which birthed the increase in academic institutions in Oyo State. The Bishop went on the mention four main purports of the meeting:
1. To celebrate the successful administration of the governor, particularly, the educational feats.
2. To request for all the possible support the state can render to the university.
3. A reminder on the request for an extra 100 hectares of land for Dominion University, to which the governor said he approves 50 hectares to be disbursed as soon as the necessary steps are taken.
4. Invitation to Bishop’s Birthday Anniversary Public Lecture
Members of the Governor’s entourage were introduced; SSG Alhaji Lekan Alli, Executive Assistant in Administration, Mr Soji Eniade, Executive Assistant in Community Relations, Alhjai Siyanbade, SSG Due Process, Mrs Oyedele, other special assistants to Governor present; Alhaji Fatai Salau, Honourable Jenrade and Commissioner for Education, Prof Olowofela, with the Special Adviser, Ministry of Health.
The Governor requested for the showcase of the Dominion University License and Certificate. He went on to give his welcome address, and lauded the Bishop as a Man of God, one of the very few he has great respect for spiritually and educationally. He greeted the Dominion University team and mentioned his delight at the upliftment of education during his tenure and by visioners such as the Bishop. He made note of the Technical University, which has an aim to promote both theoretical and practical education for sustainable development and growth in Nigeria. He recommended that Dominion University model after Technical University by seeking for International grants, funds, affiliations and the likes to boost a better academic experience for its students and ultimately societal developments from a sound academic background.
The meeting ended with group photographs taken of the Governorship and Dominion University entourage.
