Dominion University Holds 7th Matriculation Ceremony, Emphasises Role of Educated Youth in National Stability

Dominion University recently held its 7th Matriculation Ceremony, formally welcoming a new cohort of students into the academic community. The ceremony served not only as a rite of passage for the students but also as a moment of reflection on the responsibility of educated youth in shaping a safe and stable society.

The highlight of the event was the matriculation lecture delivered by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Adeleye Olusola Oyebade (rtd., mni). His lecture, titled “Security, Society and the Student: The Role of Educated Youth in Building a Stable Nation,” focused on the critical role students play in promoting security and social stability within and beyond the university environment.

He urged students to remain alert and responsible at all times, both on and off campus. According to him, students must uphold good moral standards, act responsibly within society, and use digital platforms with care and discernment. He also encouraged them to set clear and realistic goals, stressing the importance of steady progress in achieving personal and academic aspirations.

Reinforcing this message, the Chancellor of Dominion University, Bishop T. V. Adelakun, charged the newly admitted students to take their academic pursuits seriously. He reminded them that time is a valuable resource and that poor use of time can have lasting consequences on their future.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abel Olorunnisola, congratulated the students on their admission into the university. He encouraged them to remain authentic while upholding the core values and standards of Dominion University throughout their academic journey.

The 7th Matriculation Ceremony marked a significant milestone in the history of the institution, as Dominion University recorded the highest number of matriculating students since its establishment. The event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, character development, and the preparation of students for responsible leadership in society.
