The General Overseer of the 30-year-old Victory International Church Ibadan ,and proprietor of the newly approved Dominion University, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, has advised students of Ajayi Crowther University Oyo, to be steadfast in their studies and heed to the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Reverend Professor Dapo Asaju, because those instructions are ultimately in their interest. The Bishop who came to the campus on a consultation visit to the Vice-Chancellor, addressed the students during the Wednesday community service at St. Andrew’s Chapel. He told the them that they may not understand the value of the path of discipline, which the VC wants to put them, but they will eventually do so at the end of the day, and, in fact, look for him to express their gratitude in future.
‘If only you can see your future, you will remain on the path of godliness. It will surely be well with you if you remain on the path of godliness’ he said. Adelakun used himself as an example to the students, stating that when he remained steadfast to his faith and studies, as a student in University of Lagos, from where he graduated 36 years ago, some people mocked and persecuted him. He said things had evidently turned around for the best for him, such that one of his lecturers, who encouraged him in those day of tribulation, would be one of the pioneer lecturers in Dominion University. He told the students that they would certainly reap bounteous benefits if they stuck to the path of righteousness. Speaking earlier, his wife, Pastor Mrs. Dolapo Adelakun ,also advised the students not to stray from the path of righteousness in order for their path to continue to be bright in accordance with the scriptures.
Later, the Vice-Chancellor took the bishop on a facility tour of the campus. Adelakun ,and members of his entourage, where taken to the 2500 capacity Crowther Hall, reputed to be the largest in Oyo state, the University water factory, Shepherd’s Inn and Goshen Inn Guest houses, both of which have a combined capacity of over 100 rooms, the Sports Complex, Faculty of Natural Sciences and other facilities on Campus, for which Adelakun thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the numerous projects he had birthed during his tenure. He thereafter invited the Vice-Chancellor to pay a visit to his new University, in order to help it with his wealth of experience in University administration.
